If it is peace, solitude and sweeping arid vistas you’re after, look no further than Namibia’s Vingerklip Lodge in the Damaraland region. Here, in a primordial valley known as the Ugab terraces, you will find the luxurious Vingerklip Lodge. Massive granite boulders dominate the landscape, with the 35 m tall Vingerklip bearing stark testimony to geological events of 15 million years ago. The accommodation at Vingerklip Lodge comprises eleven thatched freestanding double units, all en suite, with private patio overlooking the landscape. Eight units each offer loft accommodation for two children. Namibian sunsets are spectacular. The dining area offers a verandah where you can watch the rocks glowing blood-red while sipping a fine wine or local beer. Gourmet dishes turn mealtimes into a memorable occasion. The Vingerklip Lodge is situated in a private reserve on the farm Bertram. Three watering holes are scattered across the reserve, where you can watch a variety of animals. Experience the African bush by one of a number of hiking trails in the reserve. Our game drives, where you absorb the sights and smells of the veld while sipping champagne, are highly recommended. (Much as we would like, we cannot guarantee the animals sauntering over to meet you!) On the other hand, if lazing about with a good book is your idea of heaven, the Lodge offers two sparkling pools where you can soak up the African sun. Alternatively, the soothing water of the jacuzzi can make city stress disappear. For a once in a lifetime experience – visit the Vingerklip Lodge. |
